  • Radio CG 13: The Countdown Continues

Our thirteenth episode landed with eleven days left to go before the presidential election. We admit it: we’re definitely feeling the tension. As much as everyone hopes for a smooth election and happier days ahead, more and more people on both sides are dreading potential post-election unrest. What’s worse, both sides continue to blame each other. Pat and Dean tried to keep the peace as they discussed the relevant topics. What Is Voter Suppression? Before jumping into things, we want to back up and talk a bit about voter suppression. Not because we’re fans, but because like “Defund the Police,” there’s a lot of confusion over what the term means.…

  • We're all still Americans.

Radio CG 12: What Do We Still Have In Common?

It’s been another wild week in American politics. In lieu of a debate we had two some…interesting…town halls, and intensifying nastiness by representatives of both parties. We’ve also seen record voter turnout so far, and if this keeps up; at press time (Tuesday) over 34 million people have voted. This is a wonderful thing, and we hope it’s a record-breaking election in terms of who voted. But we’re also concerned about what’s to follow, and what’s going on right now. “It’s Rigged!” Historically, once a presidential candidate concedes to the victor, those who voted for them may feel disappointed, but will quickly get back to their regular lives. We’ve seen…

  • Radio CG: What We’re About

After a lot of back and forth, we decided not to post the 8/22 episode. What began as a conversation about “Defund the Police” (and its various interpretations) exploded into an argument. Hey, politics can get passionate. We get it. What we don’t get – and won’t endorse – is when the ugliness that permeates today’s political scene seeps into our show. Finding common ground means holding everyone to higher standards. Even ourselves. The conversation made us take a step back and think about what this show is, and what we want to be. We want to be the place where people can feel free to voice their opinions about…

  • You've got to vote to keep our democracy

Radio CG 3: You’ve Got to Vote, But How?

Voting. It’s kind of a big deal. For democracy to work, you’ve got to vote. But like everything else in 2020, voting is facing some unique challenges. Is it safe to go out and cast your ballot while “The Rona” rages? Is the country equipped to deal with 140 million+ absentee and mail-in ballots? We haven’t even touched on the issues with the USPS. We figured this episode would get a little heated. Everyone has been a little heated lately – you can’t turn your head without hearing someone yelling about something. But to our great surprise (and pleasure), everyone who called in had thoughtful opinions and wanted to contribute…

  • Radio CG: Empty Seats in Empty Stadiums

Our next radio show will be Saturday the 8th, from 6-7 PM Pacific time, on 101.5 FM/720 AM (Las Vegas KDWN). Sporting events seem hardcoded into American DNA. No matter who you are, or where you live, it’s likely you’ve rooted on one team or another during your lifetime. Maybe you just glance at the scores every morning. Maybe loving (or hating) the Yankees is as natural to you as breathing. We don’t need to tell you that the current pandemic has changed the way we take in sports. Teams now play in empty stadiums. Sometimes the management pipes in the sound of cheering crowds. Mostly, they seem to play…
